This map shows public and private managed areas in the Northern Appalachian - Boreal ecoregion. Managed areas are lands that are managed for biodiversity conservation. Conservation management status varies among these lands from high-use National and State forests under active timber management (light brown), to National Wilderness Areas and Nature Conservancy preserves that are permanently protected and managed for biodiversity conservation (dark green).
